Stramonio Festival returns on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th November, the cultural event dedicated to the figure of witches and their persecution, to question the present through history, thought and the arts. For the first time the festival arrives in the evocative setting of Villa del Grumello, in Como, in collaboration with the Villa del Grumello Association.
The underlying theme of this edition is metamorphosis, understood as the possibility of transformation, liberation and subversion of the established order. The quintessential figure of change, the witch becomes the starting point for exploring the fluidity of the body, female self-determination and forms of resistance to dominant representations.
Through an interdisciplinary approach that intertwines historical, philosophical, anthropological and legal reflection with literature, cinema, visual arts, music, theater and dance, Stramonio addresses central contemporary issues: gender issues, violence against women, the relationship between nature and culture, ecology and the protection of human rights.
The new collaboration with Villa del Grumello is part of a common sensitivity towards the dialogue between knowledge and artistic practices, in an inclusive, critical and experimental perspective. A cultural cohabitation that invites the contamination of languages and visions, transforming the festival into a space for meeting, discussion and research.
Stramonio thus returns to talk about witches to give voice to stories of persecution and independence, question dominant imaginaries and imagine new possibilities of existence and liberation.
A festival to explore change and build places of resistance.
