History

The seventeenth-century Villa del Grumello overlooks the first basin of Lake Como a few steps from the city center and is set in a romantic park of 4 hectares of great naturalistic value and unique landscape. A liminal place that recomposes the urban and the ''wild'', the local gaze and the openness to the world, the Grumello is the heart of the botanical, landscape and cultural project of the ''Kilometer of Knowledge'', which connects the Grumello to the nearby Villa Olmo and Villa Sucota, giving life to an urban park and together with a place of culture of great value.
The refinement of the rooms of the Villa and the enchanting view, historically make it one of the privileged residences on the banks of the Lario of well-known families: the Odescalchis, then the Giovios and from the second half of the 19th century the Celesias, who hosted illustrious personalities such as Vincenzo Monti, Alessandro Volta and Ugo Foscolo.

The romantic park of Grumello is embellished with blooms in every season - including a rich collection of hydrangeas - and dotted with secular trees, such as camphors, olee fragrans, sequoias, cedars and a specimen of Ginkgo biloba, next to which stands the garden dedicated to Pliny the Elder.

The Villa del Grumello Association has followed the project for the recovery and enhancement of the historic buildings and the Grumello's Park, taking care of their management and contents.
The cultural hub of Grumello offers a dense schedule of events (such as jazz and dance festivals and open-air film festivals), cultural initiatives and training projects for different targets, which embrace the themes of botany and landscape, art in its various forms, environmental education and well-being, stimulating creative interweaving, participation, slow crossing and education to beauty.

The Villa and the Serra, framed by the suggestive park and the enchanting view, are the ideal place for small conferences, workshops, training initiatives, cultural events and company meetings and a privileged context for photo shoots, video shootings, artistic events, gala dinners and exclusive receptions.
