The exhibition Anthony McCall: Solid Light celebrates the work of artist and filmmaker Anthony McCall (born 1946), presenting his groundbreaking works existing between drawing, film and sculpture.
His “light sculptures” consist of scenic flat, curved and conical beams of light stretched to delineate volumes that, like physical blades, run through darkened spaces. At the Reggia di Venaria they enter into dialogue with the Baroque environments and perspectives of the Reggia, directly involving the visitor in experiences that expand and exceed traditional art cinema performances.
The exhibition is produced in collaboration with Tate, UK, curated by Gregor Muir, Director of Collection International Art, and Andrew de Brún, Assistant Curator International Art, Tate.
The exhibition is part of the Into the Light program dedicated to the theme of light.
