History

Villa La Quiete, also known as Villa Spada, is a historical gem located in Treia, in the Marche region of Italy. Today owned by the Municipality of Treia, this splendid estate has undergone an extensive restoration that has brought back to life its historical and natural grandeur.
Once the residence of Count Lavinio de' Medici Spada, Villa La Quiete still reflects the passion of its distinguished owner for botany and the arts. Lavinio, a multifaceted figure of the Italian Risorgimento, transformed the Villa into a center of culture and beauty, enriching it with gardens and botanical collections.

The park surrounding Villa La Quiete is a magnificent example of a historic garden, characterized by a rich variety of plants and flowers. Thanks to careful restoration work, the orchards and botanical collections have been faithfully restored following the guidelines of the 1854 Catalogue, offering visitors an immersive journey through nature and history. The park is divided into several themed areas, including an Italian-style garden featuring an elliptical parterre and a central fountain,
a centuries-old holm oak grove, and a historic rose garden boasting over 400 rose varieties.
Among the park's green architectural highlights are the Neo-Gothic Greenhouse and the Caretaker's House, both recently restored to welcome visitors. The grounds also feature scenic pathways winding through trees and flowerbeds, inviting guests to explore and contemplate the landscape.

The upcoming restoration works on the central building of the Villa will mark the complete rebirth of this precious treasure, a place where-over the course of a thousand years-figures and events have interwoven, leaving an indelible mark on history.
