To mark the bicentennial of the birth of Duke George II of Saxe-Meiningen, Villa Carlotta is offering a series of guided tours exploring the themes of the exhibition European Dynasties on Lake Como: The Princess of the Netherlands and the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen at Villa Carlotta.

EUROPEAN DYNASTIES ON LAKE COMO: FACES AND PRIVATE LIFE
This tour delves into figures such as Marianne of Orange-Nassau, Charlotte of Prussia, and George II, using documents, photographs, and objects to explore the more intimate side of the villa's owners.

FAMILY MATTERS
A special guided tour focusing on the history of the Duke, Princess Charlotte, and her family.
The tour concludes with a unique workshop that combines hands-on design with painting experiments. Participants will try their hand at designing and crafting their own handmade stamps, then explore the technique of roller printing using vibrant, contrasting tempera paints. The goal? Reinterpreting the iconography of the family portrait through the immediate, timeless graphic language of Pop Art.

SHAKESPEARE'S PASSION
The tour will focus in particular on Duke George II's passion for Shakespeare. Attention will therefore be drawn to the painting by Francesco Hayez, which depicts a scene from the tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Afterwards, the experience will move to the educational area. Here, participants will be able to express their creativity by making their own fabric collage inspired by the story and atmosphere of Romeo and Juliet.
