On Sunday, September 20, Parco Giardino Sigurtà (Valeggio sul Mincio, Verona) travels back in time once again with the eleventh edition of ''Viaggio nel Tempo'' (Journey Through Time), a day dedicated to the atmosphere, costumes, and traditions of the 19th century.
Across the Park's 60 hectares, over 100 dancers and historical reenactors from various Italian cities will bring a captivating 19th-century scene to life, featuring historical dances, live music, vintage carriages, horses, historic vehicles, traditional crafts, and period settings.
DANCES, MUSIC, AND VINTAGE CARRIAGES
Historical dances will take center stage, with quadrilles, waltzes, and polkas performed by the group Danze '800 Verona, accompanied by live music from the Orchestra Sinfonica dei Colli Morenici under the direction of Maestro Nicola Ferraresi. Children and young dancers will also join in the choreography, dressed in 19th-century attire.
A major highlight will be the 13 historic carriages parading along the Park's avenues and competing in the Concorso di Eleganza (Concours d'Elegance), organized in collaboration with the Gruppo Italiano Attacchi (GIA). Ranging from elegant carriages and working vehicles to those used for daily travel, the public can admire models such as the Duc de Dame, Phaeton, Vittoria, Dog Cart, Milord, and Calessino.
Also on display will be the Sigurtà family's own carriages: the Clarence and the Governess Car. A carriage actually played a pivotal role in the Park's history: it was the purchase of a carriage in 1941 that led Carlo Sigurtà to acquire the estate.
The parade and competition will take place in the morning, while the awards ceremony-presided over by an international judge-is scheduled for the afternoon.

What makes this edition special are the new settings dedicated to 19th-century life and society. A village of arts and traditional crafts will offer the chance to meet spinners, cobblers, barbers, clog makers, knife sharpeners, and women busy making pasta.
For the first time, a space will also be dedicated to Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of modern nursing, featuring historical reenactors and stories about her extraordinary life. Members of the Red Cross Volunteer Nurses Corps will also be present, wearing their historic uniforms.
There will be vintage bicycles, traditional games, a parade by the Carabinieri Historical Uniforms Unit-featuring the ''Reduced Full Dress'' uniform from the Umbertine era-and a romantic Déjeuner sur l'herbe, inspired by 19th-century outdoor social gatherings.
Visitors can enjoy a ''carriage baptism'' (an introductory carriage ride), while children aged 6 to 12 can take part in a ''saddle baptism'' (an introductory horse ride) and receive a certificate of participation.
