Great summer music at the Mortella Gardens

The highly anticipated symphony season at Giardini la Mortella in Ischia returns, now in its nineteenth year. In the magical and evocative setting of the Greek Theater, immersed in the pristine nature of the park, six evening concerts will feature talented young musicians from around the world.

Originally conceived by Lady Susana Walton-whose birth anniversary this year marks the centenary-the Festival offers young performers the opportunity to perform in a unique setting, where nature, art, and music interact in perfect harmony.

  • Thursday, June 25 | OPENING CONCERT
    ''Città di Procida'' Music Band (Conductor: Francesco Trio)
    An opening concert with strong symbolic value, paying homage to the Italian band tradition. A true celebration of the local area. Free admission with reservations required.

    BenTiVoglio Youth Symphony Orchestra (Bologna) | Conductor: Emiliano Bernagozzi
    40 young musicians in an energetic program ranging from William Walton to the most famous film scores.

    Choir of Clare College, Cambridge (UK) | Conductor: Graham Ross
    One of the most prestigious university choirs in the world performs a refined a cappella repertoire (Monteverdi, Palestrina, Rossini, and Walton).

    Sinfonia Smith Square (London) | Conductor: Simon Over | Soprano: Ana Beard Fernández
    The young London orchestra intertwines the Argentine tangos of Piazzolla and Guastavino with the music of Sir William Walton.

    Symphony Orchestra of the Liceo ''Carlo Tenca'' of Milan | Conductor: Marco Bossi
    70 students from one of Italy's leading music high schools present an engaging program inspired by cinema, myth, and adventure.
  • Thursday, July 30 | CLOSING CONCERT
    Hertfordshire Youth Wind Sinfonia and Brass Ensembles (UK) | Conductor: David Gordon-Shute
    The concert closes in grand style with the brilliant sounds of British wind ensembles on music inspired by folk traditions.
