With the arrival of spring, Parco Giardino Sigurtà (Valeggio sul Mincio, VR) transforms into one of Europe's most spectacular botanical landscapes. In May, its more than 60 hectares come alive with a living mosaic of colors and scents, offering visitors an immersive experience of nature and beauty.
The undisputed stars of the show are the roses, blooming in their thousands along the famous Viale delle Rose - approximately one kilometer long - and in numerous areas of the park. Among the most fascinating varieties are the elegant Queen Elizabeth, with its large pink flowers, and the fragrant Hybrid Polyantha & Floribunda, prized for their abundant and prolonged flowering well into autumn.
Alongside the roses, the spectacular allium varieties Gigantic Star and Ambassador are eye-catching, with their suspended purple spheres adding a contemporary touch to the landscape.
In the Water Gardens and the Park's 18 ponds, water lilies create evocative atmospheres, evoking famous Impressionist paintings, while along the avenues and scenic walks, irises accompany visitors with a palette ranging from deep purple to bright yellow and pale blue.
Among the other May blooms, the following stand out:
◈ the peonies, with large flowers in shades of pink, purple, yellow, and white, visible near the Hermitage;
◈ the tagetes, ornamental plants with warm colors and long blooms;
◈ the viburnum, with its rounded, fragrant inflorescences along the Pine Avenue;
◈ the weigela, with its pink tubular flowers that promote biodiversity by attracting pollinating insects.
May at Parco Giardino Sigurtà is a true sensory journey: a succession of ever-changing views among centuries-old woods of oaks, hornbeams, cypresses, and over 40,000 evergreen box trees.
