The countdown has begun: on Thursday, April 2nd, the Giardini La Mortella in Ischia (NA) will reopen to the public, inaugurating a particularly significant season.
2026 marks the centenary of the birth of Lady Susana Walton (Buenos Aires, August 30, 1926 - Ischia, March 21, 2010), the garden's charismatic founder. To celebrate her memory, the Fondazione Walton is promoting a comprehensive commemorative project: a year-long series of events in Italy and England, dedicated to the art, nature, and cultural legacy of an extraordinary figure.
★ Exhibition ''The Intuition of Love''
Among the main initiatives, the exhibition ''The Intuition of Love'' stands out, open to the public from the day of reopening.
Conceived and curated by Mariangela Catuogno, the project unfolds through a suggestive sequence of panels featuring quotes from Lady Walton and the personalities who inspired her vision.
The itinerary recounts the original intuition behind La Mortella: to transform the harsh and inhospitable Zaro lava into a space of harmony and beauty. A symbolic tale guided by the four elements-Water, Fire, Earth, and Air-which merge in the garden thanks to the creative energy of Susana, evoked as the genius loci of the place.
