Saturday, February 14th and Sunday, February 15th Agrumi in Festa al Real Bosco di Capodimonte returns to Naples, with the third edition of the event dedicated to the historic Giardino Torre citrus grove. Two days packed with events, including guided tours, educational and creative workshops for adults and children, botanical walks, meetings, a market, tastings, and exhibitions of over fifty citrus varieties.
Organized and promoted by Delizie Reali scarl, with the patronage of the Società Botanica Italiana Onlus, Grandi Giardini Italiani, and APGI - Associazione Parchi e Giardini d'Italia, the event highlights the Giardino Torre, a former Bourbon nursery and agricultural company, now Naples' first urban agro-ecosystem for education, production, and recreation. A true ''living museum,'' where the first mandarin tree (Citrus deliciosa) was introduced in 1816, today it houses an ever-evolving botanical collection of great scientific and landscape interest.
The event opens on Saturday, February 14th with the meeting ''Citrus Fruits in Capodimonte: A Living Heritage Since 1816,'' featuring presentations by experts from the scientific, cultural, and gastronomic worlds. Throughout the weekend, guided tours of the historic citrus grove, sensory and creative workshops, educational activities for children, botanical displays featuring rare and unusual varieties, craft demonstrations, and the Citrus Market, where you can purchase fresh fruit, potted plants, and artisanal and organic products.
Citrus fruits will also be featured in the gastronomic offerings of the bistro, the Giardino Torre pizzeria, and La Stufa dei Fiori, a former 19th-century greenhouse now a café and restaurant. There's no shortage of walking tours to discover the Bourbon sites of the Royal Forest, and special initiatives for Valentine's Day weekend, with discounts for couples with tickets to the Capodimonte Museum.
